The auto-certification (as well as self-certification) allows every citizen to substitute certifications required by the public administration, by public services managers and by privates, with their own declarations.
Every Italian citizen, or European Union citizen, can avail itself of the auto-certification to attest the following personal status and facts (as provided in art. 46 of Decree of the Republic President, 28 December 2000, n. 445):
- date and place of birth;
- residence;
- citizenship;
- enjoyment of civil and political rights;
- state of being bachelor, married, widowed or free state;
- family status;
- life status;
- the birth of a child, death of a consort, of an ancestor o descendant;
- enrolment in lists, registers kept by public administrations;
- belonging to professional orders;
- educational degree, examinations incurred;
- professional qualification possessed, title of specialization, qualification, training, updating, technical qualification;
- financial and economic situation, also to obtain the concessions of benefits of any kind allowed by special laws;
- accomplishment of specific obligation about contribution with the indication of the correspondent amount;
- state of unemployment;
- quality of pensioner, category of pension;
- quality of student;
- quality of legal representative of physical or judicial people, or tutor, trustee and similar;
- enrolment in associations or social formations of any kind;
- every situation related to the fulfilment of compulsory military service, including the one attested in the matricular sheet of the state of service;
- lack of criminal sentences, not to be the addressee of measures concerning the application oh security measures, prevention measures, civil decision, administrative measures registered on criminal record office, according to the law in force;
- not to be aware of being subjected to penal processes;
- not to be the corporate addressee of judicial measures that apply administrative sanctions in the Legislative Decree 8 June 2001, n. 231;
- quality of dependant;
- every item in direct knowledge of the interested, contained in the register of civil state;
- not to be in condition of liquidation or failure, and not to have presented application for composition.
Foreign citizens can use the auto-certification just if legally staying in Italy and exclusively to prove personal conditions, facts and qualities certifiable or attestable by public Italian subjects.
